The time? Grade school. The place? Jean’s School of Dance in Cut Bank, MT. That’s where I donned my first pairs of ballet, tap and jazz shoes (not to mention the snazzy leg warmers). Music and movement have been part of my life ever since! Training continued at the Montana Ballet Company, where I learned my passion for dance extended to a love of teaching and choreographing. After pursuing further dance education at Montana State University, my dancing shoes followed me to San Diego where I taught, performed and choreographed for Pacific Repertory Ballet and Dance and the San Diego Dance Institute. After returning home to MT, I felt like I hit the jackpot when I discovered Oula. I’m now one of three choreographers for this amazing mind-body dance fitness format and serve as the director of Oula One. The magic isn’t lost on me that all these years later I’m still moving to the music.

The dance floor is special gathering place. I’ve met the most amazing people on it. I’ve also met more of myself there. It invites us to show up, breathe and release what we are feeling – joy, playfulness, anger, sadness…it’s all welcome. We connect through movement and share in the celebration, healing, friendship and freedom of it all.

When I’m not at the Studio I’m likely rocking out at home to an endless list of favorite artists. I enjoy spending time with family, adventuring with my husband, Duncan, and spoiling our three furry companions (Ollie, Rosie & Griffin). I am never without a good book, a strong cup of coffee and ice cream stashed in the fridge…my personal trifecta towards well-being!

Gentle Yoga - Chair Yoga - Bones For Life

Debbie F.

“As a forever student of movement I never tire of learning something new”

The early years were spent enjoying life on a ranch/farm on the Smith River with the following 9 years in the small community of Stanford, Montana enjoying indoor & outdoor activities centered around 4-H projects & Class C school activities. Following a love of movement, I graduated from MSU Bozeman with a Physical Education & Health teaching certification. After teaching a variety of fitness classes, I settled on yoga about 34 years ago, teaching it for 24 years, and adding Feldenkrais-based classes for the past 12.

I've slowed down some,  but still enjoy hiking in the mountains, keeping up with my two girls & grandchildren, and trying something new in the kitchen when I'm not taking another online class or planning the next one.

Oula - Power

Nancy V.

I have always loved dancing, and I used to be a dance club fanatic. But then life happened, and children, and jobs and responsibilities, and I just…stopped. For a long time. Twenty years later I found Studio Soul, and part of me came back to life.

Dancing is the quickest way to forgetting about what others think, how the world reacts to you, about processing your emotions. This dance community lets me let go, and everyone around me lets go as well. And we keep coming back to do it all together again. That’s love, that’s joy. I don’t ever want to stop again.

Mindful Minis

Kaela I.

I grew up in Ohio and moved to South Carolina after college where I spent time in AmeriCorps and graduate school along with enjoying the beautiful landscape. I took a leap and moved to Billings after meeting my now husband in 2017. We enjoy hiking, camping, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing, especially in the Beartooth Mountains. Our child, Norris, loves to explore the outdoors with us, and when we’re not adventuring as a family we like to visit loved ones, check out local parks, bike, and read.

SMASH - Beginning Meditation

Lia M.

I'm originally from MN but have been in MT for 13 years. I was never really interested in teaching group fitness until I found SMASH. I fell in love with how sexy, strong, and empowered it made me feel, and I knew I wanted to share that feeling with others.

When I’m not teaching, I run a website dedicated to publishing motivational and inspirational content, go hiking with my kid and dog, and enjoy meditating and being creative!

Owner - Yoga

Kam McGivern

Born in the wilds of Alaska then into a life full of arts in Southern Oregon. This is where eastern philosophy, the practice of Yoga and meditation anchored itself within. Yoga has always felt so familiar, the teachings were like remembering, like coming home. From Kundalini to Bikram, Hatha, Ashtanga, and Nidra, I sought out to learn and explore Yoga in all 8 states I've lived and any time I've traveled. I strive to hold classes that are accessible and relatable for all. My personal practice spans 25yrs and instructing since 2010.

In 2014 I found hypnotherapy. This powerful practice has helped me heal through many issues and traumas. After spending several years as an apprentice, I have been weaving this into the studio, while offering private sessions. Away from the studio, I work as an avid home designer, remodel-er, and Realtor. My greatest joy are my two incredible kids. We love to spend time exploring nature and traveling. The creation of Studio Soul came from a desire to have a welcoming community space.  Where we use movement and modalities for self acceptance, deep inner knowledge and healing. May you see your worth, may you know you are loved, may you feel how much you are needed.

Yoga Therapy

Lisa K.

I'm from Billings, Montana and spent 21 years in the Bay Area immersed in a diverse yoga community with world renowned instructors. The practice of yoga rerouted my life with opportunities to face challenges with a deepening of the heart and expanding of the mind in which I immediately knew was something worth sharing with others, especially young adults. When I'm not teaching, you'll find me often deeply contemplating the magic of life and exploring different mediums in art. I love to dance and exercise and assist in other forms of healing such as Heart Readings and Spinal Flow.

Yoga

Krista L.

I'm an intuitive life coach, yoga teacher and best-selling author. After a decade of self-discovery and personal healing from trauma, I became a NETA-certified wellness coach, 200-hr registered yoga teacher (with NETA and Nolan Yoga), and attuned Usui Reiki master. In 2019 I left my corporate job and founded JaeRae Wellness, LLC to teach and heal full-time. I guide clients and students through card readings, coaching, yoga and energy work while also continuing to write, speak, and host healing events. It’s my life-long mission to help others discover unconditional self-love, healing, and personal empowerment.

With over 7-years of experience teaching a variety of yoga styles, from beginners to advanced vinyasa, yin and even aerial yoga, I especially love leading students into deep relaxation and inner peace through slow flows, restorative sequences, and yoga nidra, often including the healing vibrations of quartz singing bowls during savansana.

When I’m not on my mat (or hanging in my Yoga Trapeze), I love traveling, exploring the great outdoors, making homemade “self-care goodies” of crystal jewelry, essential oil rollers and candles, and spending quality time with my partner, teenage daughters, and dogs. Let's connect!

Yoga - Unwind Back

Sharon F.

Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.

-Hermann Hesse

I began my study and practice of yoga in 1976 and have been teaching yoga and movement classes since 1984. Additionally, I’ve been a practicing Licensed Massage Therapist since 1984.

UNWIND…Back to Your Self is a movement experience inviting you to feel as you move and move as you feel, allowing present moment sensations, feelings, and emotions to emerge and transform in a safe, contained, fun and welcoming space.
